Steve loves to work with ponies and young riders. If a rider starts with Steve early on, he can give them the best foundation from the beginning. This will really pay off as the rider will progress more rapidly and enjoy riding more.
Steve rode ponies until he was 18 years old and then trained pony riders to top prizes at indoors, WEF and pony finals. In addition, he is dad to twin 5 year olds and knows how to relate to young riders.
Steve enjoys working with any rider regardless of age or ability as long as they want to learn. It’s very important to Steve that riders have goals they are working toward. The goals are individual and could be anything from winning an over fences class in short stirrup to competing in the U25 Grand Prix. Whatever it is, Steve can help you accomplish it!
Steve’s vast experience combined with his patient, confident manner is very reassuring to nervous amateur (and junior) riders. Steve can help you progress without fear.
Steve is an expert at putting the polish on an equitation rider. If you want to be successful in the Big Eq ring, you’ve come to the right place. Steve judges major equitation finals around the country, so he knows what the judges want to see. He also knows how to help you get there. After all, he’s done it himself when he won the Rolex-Maclay National Equitation Championship in 1985!
Steve has industry contacts at all levels. He can help you acquire appropriate mounts at a range of price points. He is also able to bring you his vast knowledge and experience at the national levels right here at home.
We understand and support parents’ desire for their children to learn to care for their own horse. You and your child are welcome to be involved in your horse’s care. By participating in the full service program, you are assured that one of our skilled grooms will be available to show you how to properly care for your horse and your tack and can be a valuable learning tool. It will also insure that your horse is cared for if you are busy with other activities. In addition, it will save you time and allow your child to focus their energy on success in the ring.
We occasionally have opportunities for riders at various skill levels to take a lesson on a sale horse. However, we do not have a lesson or academy program. The opportunity to take a lesson on a sale horse is generally reserved for those interested in buying or leasing a horse through Steve and joining our program.
Steve is an accomplished rider and can help with green prospects through made show horses. If you board and train with us, regular training rides are available. You also have the option to send your horse for full training with Steve. He is a true horseman and knows when to push and when to stop a training session.
Steve accepts sale horses. Please contact Steve if you have a horse for sale to determine which options work best for you.
In limited circumstances, you may board at Robindale and show with a trainer other than Steve. If you have a pre-existing relationship with another trainer, please contact Steve to discuss the options for working with him and continuing with your current trainer.
If you wish to attend shows that are not on Steve’s calendar, he can make arrangements for another trainer to help you at the show.
Steve attends shows regularly in Tryon, Aiken and WEF just to name a few. We can make arrangements for you if you would like to attend shows at a more local level.
Sock Inc. is now welcoming trailer-in lessons at Robindale Farm. Trailer-in lessons are $125 (inclusive of facility fee) and can be scheduled with Steve by email at firstname.lastname@example.org or 561-254-2223. Hunter, jumper and equitation riders as well as eventers who need help with show jumping are welcome.
We are lucky to have Diane Ritz visit us weekly for dressage lessons from intro-FEI. We also have regular clinics with Eliza Sydnor Romm. Please contact Carolyn Rechkemmer for more information about dressage at Robindale.
